So Noble Beast is my big music thing of the moment, I think. Finally listened to the whole thing after the concert, and... basically, there is nothing wrong with the world when I have that on. (Also, in Why I Love Andrew Bird: He uses words like 'sociopaths' and 'eviction' and 'fratricide' effortlessly. I heart big words in songs.) I'm having another of my vaguely-tempted-by-Twitter moments. Not sure if I'll give in this time. I need to get my writing groove back, and figure out whether I'm going to try Nano (either in it purest form, where I'd probably try to focus on the Vincenia novel, or as a conglomerate of my November word count). This will take some grokking. |

*Car is back; the alternator was shot, and the people changed a belt while they were at it. (ahahahahaha money we don't have, but oh well?) *Concert tomorrow! \o/ * yuletide nominations are up. me: ::types in 'Warehouse 13' for great nominating:: site: ...HEY WAIT THIS LOOKS A LOT LIKE 'HOUSE.' me: ...not really at all? ::adds characters:: *Heeeeeey, McGee is left-handed! That's awesome. |

+ New vacuum cleaner at work! NO MORE OF THE STUPID THING THAT EITHER DOESN'T PUSH OR DOESN'T PICK ANYTHING UP. - We got absolutely slammed in the last hour today, probably because people decided they needed stuff after the football game. + Speaking of, what is this nonsense where the Bengals are actually good this year? I don't know what to do with this! - So I pulled into the driveway and went to put my windows up... and they went up v. slowly, and the stereo cut out. And then my poor car wouldn't start again. Fortunately, I'm off tomorrow and Monday, and Dad's off tomorrow, so hopefully we'll be able to get to the bottom of this. + ANDREW BIRD ON WEDNESDAY OH MY GOD I AM JONESING FOR A CONCERT. + yuletide fever lingers. + Working on something for jossverse_bb. Funtimes! Aaaaaaand GIP. |

yuletide FEVER. That is all. Also, the RP meme, gacked from like everyone at this point (I will also answer for fic things):
A. Has my portrayal of a character(s) changed the way you think of him/her?
B. Pick one of my characters and I'll answer the following questions about him or her. 1. What would your character kill for? What would they die for? 2. What would they refuse to do under any circumstances? Why? 3. What do they dream about? 4. What’s their biggest fear? 5. What single object would they be most hard pressed to part with? Why? 6. What is their fondest memory? 7. What is their worst memory? 8. What or who was were their most significant influence? Expound. 9. What do they believe makes a successful life? 10. What makes them laugh? 11. What are their religious views? 12. What is their greatest strength? 13. Do they have a fatal flaw? If so, what is it? 14. Who is the most important person in their life? 15. If they died, who would miss them most? How would they die?
C. Pick a fandom, any fandom I'm in. I will tell you some stuff that may involve canon ships, fanon ships, fanon trends, and whether or not I think things jumped the shark or went absolutely nuts, or where I myself stopped watching and why! |

A question, before work: So has anyone else who uses Adium had issues lately - in the last week or so - where you open the program and the AIM buddy list doesn't load right? Like, it says you're signed in but you can't see anyone who's on AIM? I've found that you can fix the list by disconnecting/reconnecting AIM, but it's still weird. I was just wondering if I was the only person having the issue. |

So, birthday. Had a surprise! interview; jury's still out, as the place is taking more interviews, but I think it went pretty well. Stopped at Borders on the way back, then went into Oxford (after a stop home when I realised I didn't have anything for the parking meter). ...And hey, did you know Borders carries Dr. Horrible? I do now! Well, they're going to have to restock at the one I went to, since I bought the only copy, BUT. Free-For-All GIP again. (What amuses me the most is I didn't even mention my love of icons of people pointing. XD) |

Actually, the managers at work were talking about letting people come in in costume for the day. If I don't go in that day, I probably won't dress up; there's not much other cause to here, at the moment, and we never get trick-or-treaters at our house. What I'm going to do depends on whether I give in and get my hair cut before Halloween. If I do, I'm resurrecting my Jane Lane costume from GYGO. If not... well, Ziva's easy enough to pull together on the fly. (And half the 'costume' would be mixed idioms. XD) |

So there's the thing where I'm very, very tempted by jossverse_bb (and might have enough of the idea fleshed out to try to run with it). And there's the thing where I'm the last person to advocate premature holiday talk? But good God I've already got yuletide fever. And my shoulder hurts like a lot. Not so fun, and possibly related to the two-fisted vacuum cleaner at work. (Thing's like fifty years old, or something. And it refuses to be pushed forward. Not Fun.) Note to self: You have a phone call to make ASAP, if you want to go to that damn concert. And GIP, courtesy of ye olde Free-For-All. (Why are all of the icons I call OTP icons for canonically doomed pairings? XD) |

I have several memorable concerts, as my parents have been taking me to them since I was five. But the winner has to be a Barenaked Ladies concert in 1996. Thirteen years ago Friday, to be exact, on my tenth birthday. I heard they were going to be in Oxford less than a week beforehand - when we went to see them in Cincinnati, so I was sure there was no way we'd go to the Oxford show. But then jenerator got tickets (THIRD ROW, NO LESS) and we went to dinner in Oxford, under the pretext of her wanting to see me for the day, and Dad got my then-brand-new concert shirt out of the car and went 'here, you might need this.' I was convinced they'd gotten me a second one until they got out the tickets. XD This was right after they started telling people not to throw Kraft Dinner at the stage (apparently high-velocity macaroni and cheese hurts, and at the concert just before this, I got covered in cheese sauce powder); I still have some of the funny money they passed around at the concert. Good for admission into the treefort, yo. So: Not only my most memorable concert, but the best birthday present ever. |

--Hey, so apparently the Fall Fandom Free-For-All is on (thanks for the tip, Lexie!). My specific grab-bag o' stuff is here; I'd be particularly thrilled to see one of the vids, since I have the means to make/write everything else if I give myself the proper tools/plot bunny. But yes. |

*Arr. Also, avast. *Things I learned today: Harry Dresden has never seen Young Frankenstein. (Out Of Context Theatre: Fool Moon is my current break-reading.) *Alphabet and story title memes are still open for tags. *Within the next few days, there will be a 'what I want for my birthday/Hogswatch' list, since I actually have a couple of things in mind this year. *Note to self: Figure out if you're going to see Andrew Bird next month, and take appropriate action. |

Hey, so here's an awesome thing. Dr. Horrible won an Emmy. Without ever having been aired on TV. That, I think, is deserving of the title Epic Win. |

[Sep. 14th, 2009|08:51 pm] |
The midterm review of September shows signs of improvement, but there's still a lot of work to be done to avoid a firing. So you're still On Notice. (Also, it turns out Mercury is in retrograde, which could well explain a lot.) (And for a different parenthetical altogether, I guess I'm gonna have to watch To Wong Foo on one of my days off this week.) Also, George McFly came in and made photocopies today. Or, well, a guy who looked just like him, even taking into account that it's been 24 years since Back to the Future would have happened. In other other news, it seems the alphabet meme is making the rounds again. And so! ( pick a letter, any letter! ) |

[Sep. 11th, 2009|10:06 pm] |
September: You had better do something pretty damn spectacular if you don't want to be fired. Seriously. ...Yeah, that wasn't it. SHAPE UP. (Focus, self. They didn't say you could never apply again, much as you'd rather be somewhere else before you have to. Also, there is Renaissance Festival on Sunday.) |

's funny, how most of my currently available icons are text-only. (She says, as she uses one of the ones that isn't.) In other news, a meme that's been floating around: Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know. |

| This one isn't even in English! |
[Sep. 8th, 2009|05:40 pm] |
...okay, brain? When I said 'don't ever change,' I meant 'keep up the cracktastic dreams that have me waking up laughing,' not 'hit me with as many vaguely disturbing dreams as you can think up.' Seriously, I don't know what was up on Sunday or this morning, but I'll pass on repeat performances. (I hate going down into the subconscious.) Also, if you could kindly stop having freakouts before there's anything to even freak out about, that would be good. It'll be fine, even if it won't be perfect. |
